Drama

Drama  Circle In our class we have this thing where we get a card and we act out what’s on the card. It’s really funny because if someone messes up, it doesn't matter because everybody makes mistakes when we do drama circle.   I played the role of the person who gets the invitation to the circus and Adrian played the role of the ring master. It’s really fun when we act out what card you have. Drama circle is the best. It’s really fun. By Cam and Adrian

Estimation Station

Image
Estimation Station      By Mary and Dahlia Our class started an estimation station!! This is how it works!! 1. First our teacher fills a little jar with something or puts what we are doing in math. 2. Then on the paper we estimate how many things w e think are in the jar!                  3. At the end of the week, our teacher looks at the paper to see the winner!      4. Whoever wins gets to pick a prize out of the prize bin! Can you estimate how many letters are in the two jars?

Splash Math

Splash Math By: Zack & Rikkie Splash math is a math site where you can learn grade 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 and 8 math. You can put in certain things for the kids to do such as addition and subtraction up to a number of your choice you can do place value and read don't forget rounding! If you are a teacher, the kids in your class will love it because when you answer you get coins. Coins are for buying animals and fish. The animals for the kids jungle and the fish for the aquarium and everything costs 20 coins. You get three stars from answering all the questions. Once they answer all the questions they will complete that task and they can just use it for practice if they want! We like splash math because it's easy and when you go back on splash math you can resume what you did. It is a good site because it helps you learn better and every time you play it you will practise math strategies. Splash math is cool because when you try each strategy you move up a leve...

Drama Circles

Class Drama Circle By: Georgia Hay Our class drama circle is super fun and super cool. The one time we did a circus one was so funny. I remember I was a clown. If you don’t know what a drama circle is, you probably want to know so i'll  tell you. A drama circle is when everyone has a card that has a number on it. Ours went up to 40. Usually there will be a theme. We did 2 drama circles. One theme was Olympics and the other was a circus. How you play: On the card there will be one or two sentences that either tell you what to say or something to do.Then you go into the middle, play your role, then go back to your spot. Then the next person goes.           It was real fun! I hope you try doing a drama circle with your friends and family. I guarantee you’ll have fun too!

Fish In a Tree

F.I.A.T. Fish In A Tree The characters: Ally (which is the main character) Albert, Mr. Daniels, Shay, Jessica, Oliver. In our class, we are reading a book called Fish in A Tree. In the most recent chapter we learned that Ally has dyslexia and Mr. Daniels is trying to help her by playing chess. We learned that Ally is really good at chess. She beat Mr. Daniels several times! Ally is really good at chess because she is good at thinking in different ways that we wouldn’t think of. By:Kai

Genius Hour

Genius Hour By: Sean Genius hour is when you pick a topic that can be anything that you are passionate about and you do a project on it. I am doing it on Leonard Fournette and on every Friday you get an hour to work on it.  You brainstorm questions and you can put it on a doc, slides, poster, bristol board, book, or whatever you can think of. If you are a teacher then you should do genius hour with your class - they would like it.

Christmas Carolling with our Community Singers

Image
Christmas Carolling By: Allie & Anjay Around Christmas time, we went Christmas carolling with a bunch of Mr. Sonier’s friends. His friends are our community singers. We met them first at Mr. Sonier's music class. Then, we started singing with them all the time like every Friday when we have music class. So when we sing, we always sing with them. They also use some cool dances and songs from their church. When we went carolling we sang in alot of places like at Value Mart, Rexall, and the Good Life gym. The community singers are all very nice and we enjoyed going carolling.

Classroom Highlights

C lassroom H ighlights By: Evan & 0wen      These are some of the things we have experienced this year: When Mr. Hope came in and taught us about light. He was from a Company called  “Adopt-a-Scientist”. He was a funny person. He taught us about light in a way we could understand.    We also acted out a circus play once. We all got a script and it told us what to say. We also acted out the Olympics too.       Once we had to go to an assembly to talk about raising money for Haiti. That’s why we had hats for Haiti day.      Once we made puzzle pieces with our names on them and our name was supposed to stand out. It took us a few days. Once our class sent letters to our family members about something we like about them that was nice. I chose my grandma to send my letter to. Some kids sent it to other people in their family or just  a friend. During these events, us students felt...

River Bottom Critters By: Jaxon & Adam First, our class lined up to go to the class where Mrs. Nethercott set up in. Then, Mrs.Nethercott showed us diagrams of the critters. Next, Mrs. Nethercott let us look at the critters with a magnifying glass in small dishes. The critters were so small!   We both thought that the water flea was the coolest. Here are other classmates' opinions on their favourite critter:     Colton - the blood worm                 Anjay - the blood worm Jake - the blood worm                   Rikkie - the water flea Sean - the water flea                     Georgia - the water flea Zack - daphnia
